we cannot change the cards we are dealt,
just how we play the hand.

Genesis
someone spoke in a foreign language on Yes93.3 today, and i somewhat figured out what she was talking about.
she asked if we knew how the food on our tables came about. far from the days where we see chickens having their necks twisted and blood drained, food flies off the supermarket shelves these days. and, that is quite the beginning as we know it.
if only we hear the screech of the cow when its legs were torn out, or the snooze of the driver who slaved at fifty mexican pesos to fetch those hanging legs to the factory. if only we smell the perspiration of the farmer when he picks the 1513th grain of the day, or the stench of feces when the pig trembles in fear.
perhaps then, our plates will be wiped clean.
and then i realised, knowing how things came about stretched beyond the dinner table. because, knowing how one lived in his past will tell me why one lives in the present the way he does.
take the time to know a friend. know his family, his job, his hobbies, his hopes, his fears, his aspirations, his loves. for perhaps that defines a true friend.
and i pray, as you think about this, a sense of loneliness will not overwhelm.
the voices in my head-
i love my girl. a love so beautiful, symmetrical, tangible
God loves me. a love so great, unconditional, real.
my life in a nutshell. working towards loves of sorts. beautiful, symmetrical, tangible, great, unconditional and real.
a page, deliberately left blank.
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
I Corinthians 13:4-8
