we cannot change the cards we are dealt,
just how we play the hand.

Missed
traffic madness. am stuck in ninoy aquino with a bunch of others. and so the scramble begins as we put our names on the waitlist for the next flight. i never understood this scramble, because it's always the sparkling solitaires first, followed by nearly-there PPS, then the golden boys, then the silver nuggets, then the residuals.
but i waited out anyway and it's strange how folks who miss the same flight share a tragic sort of camaraderie. a VP from IBM heading home to catch his wife deliver. a couple on their 6th honeymoon leg from a delayed flight off Borocay. a regional head for one of the biggest banks in the world with his second wife. a tourist from North Korea trying to catch the connecting flight home for a historic event, possibly (not). and two others in jackets, either bodyguards or consultants.
two hours passed. the subsequent flight closed. with only one no-show. solitaire please?
he stepped across the line, and said, "thank you, but why don't you issue his ticket instead? let him catch his daughter come into this world."
but before the VP could extend his passport, a voice rang from behind.
"i'm solitaire too. and next in line"
the voices in my head-
i love my girl. a love so beautiful, symmetrical, tangible
God loves me. a love so great, unconditional, real.
my life in a nutshell. working towards loves of sorts. beautiful, symmetrical, tangible, great, unconditional and real.
a page, deliberately left blank.
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
I Corinthians 13:4-8
